Sydney is the biggest city of the smallest continent, Australia. Also it is the capitol of New South Wales. i In the Urban Centre live 3.64 million people, in the metropolis region live 4.12 million people. The landmark of Sydney is the Opera house that looks like an Oyster. Other More or less famous buildings are Sydney Harbor Bridge, Sydney Tower, Queen Victoria Building, Fort Denison, Cadman's Cottage and Kirribilli House. Sydney is the most know city of Australia and many people think it was the capitol of Australia but the capitol of Australia is Canberra. I was in Sydney many times and I think it is a great town, because there is the biggest natural harbor of the world. And the opera house it is in real much bigger than it looks on the pictures. On the pictures below you see once the opera and on the right picture you see bats in one of the natural parks in Sydney.

Ciao a tutti,

This is a text about Rome.

The biggest city in Italy and the capital since 1871 is Rome. It has 2.724.347 inhabitants in the city (1. January 2009) and the area is 1.285,306 km². The city is at the river Tiber. I think the Tiber is very dirty.
The mean annual temperature in Rome is 15,5 °C. In the summer the temperature is about 24 °C and January is the coldest month with 6,9 °C.
Rome was established on the 21. April 753 BC.
There lives many imperators for example: Augustus, Hadrian, Konstantin, Nero and certainly Caesar.
It also named „the Eternal City“, because of the ancient history. The most imperators were at war with Gaul and other Country’s in Europe.
Inside Rome is the smallest state of the world. The area of Vatican state is 0,44km² and there lives only 932 inhabitants. Pontifex Benedict XVI lives there.

My opinion is, that Rome has the most beautiful sights in the world.

Forum Romanum:
The Forum Romanum was the market in the ancient.

Colosseum:
The Colosseum was a place for the Romans to see battles between Slaves and animals (Tigers; Lions; Bears). There died many Gladiatos.

Fontana di Trevi:
It’s one of the most popular fountains of the world. It was designed by Nicola Salvi.

St. Peter's Basilica (Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano):
Konstantin thought the apostle Petrus is bury there and so he built the Basilica. Every day 20.000 people visit the Basilica.

These are my four favourite places in Rome.

I hope you enjoyed my text!

Mumbai

Hey everyone,

I want to tell you something about Mumbai.
The city with its over 13.9 million inhabitants(only city, no suburbs), is the centre of finance in India. It is the most important seaport in its county and with 437.77 km²(city) also the biggest. It is the 5th biggest city in the whole world.
Till 1995 Mumbai was called Bombay. This is the reason why some old people had never heard ''Mumbai'' before:).
It is a very interesting city because of its turistical attractions, like the Gateway of India, the Elephanta Caves or the Hanging Gardens of Mumbai, which are next to Mumbai's big slums. In the movie ''slumdog millionär'' is shown how poor the people in the big slums are.

This picture shows one of Mumbais' slums.

Thank you for reading this text,

Guangzhou

Hi everybody!

I write about Guangzhou, one of the biggest metropolis of China. At first some facts about this town:
Of course this city belongs to China. It has 10.045.800 inhabitants and it's the capital of the province Guangdong and also an important town of trade and industry. The urban area is 3843,4 squarekilometers. The Chinese also call it "town of caprines", because of the legends saying that five spiked winged gods riding on caprines came from the South Seas after a bad harvest 900 years ago. They blessed the city not to relive a dearth again. Then the gods left without the caprines which turned into stone. Therefore in 19 59 they built the town's landmark, a statue of five caprines, you can still visit in Yuexiu-Park.

Two times in a year the biggest trade show of China takes place in Guangzhou. 2005 they began to build the world's highest television tower(610m).
Because of laying on the Perl River,it has a monsoon-clime. And the mean annual temperature is 22C. There they speak Cantonese, a dialect of China, and the Chinese often says that the Cantonese eat all that can swims, flys and has 4 legs, of course they don't eat something like a car or a plain. So the manifold cantonese cuisine can also pamper europeans. But rarely, you meet dogs and snakes on the cantonese menu. Some people detest seing pictures of dogs or turtles on the plate and they execrate those people who eats those animals. And what's about the breed of pigs or cows? They're also animals. First of all, this kind of dishes have been got rarer and rarer. But I think each culture has its own cuisine.

At least, you can walk along the Perl River to enjoy the romantic scene, when the night is coming and the lights are gleaming - a really beautiful picture!

Now I'tell you some sights of this town:

  1. Yuexiu park - the biggest in the city

  2. Huaisheng mosque founded by the first muslim missionary

  3. Guangxiao temple - the oldest in town

  4. The Temple of the ancestors of the family Chen where the people in the Qing-dynasty whose name was Chen had to sacrifice their ancestors
